Just watched "Hawk's Nightmare."
Jesus. That was disturbing.

I mean, it had its lighter moments, and no end of slashy potential was set up, what with the constant soothing and tucking-in-of and laying-blankets-over Hawkeye, but still.

Mais franchement, it was frighteningly disturbing.

[Pedar mentioned that as long as you can ask whether or not you're crazy, you're not crazy. I would agree with this, but it didn't seem to work that way for Susanna Kaysen - ie, Girl Interrupted]

Not that I didn't enjoy it. Whumping and all that.

But still. That scream...

I adore that episode, but, yeah, it is incredibly disturbing, I think.

I think that it qualifies as my most-watched M*A*S*H episode. Early this fall, I was in a Mood, and I just watched it every night, because... I'm really weird like that.

Well, in about twenty minutes they're going to show it again, and I'm looking forward to it...

My most watched episode is Dr Pierce and Mr Hyde. It's probably one of the few things in this world that has me literally rolling around with laughter...

But yeah, today's episode. Freaked me out totally, but in a good way.

M*A*S*H is one of the only things in this world that can get me on the floor with laughter, too. I'm having a hard time with episode titles today for some reason, but there's one show that I think has one of the funniest scenes of all time in it. It's between Henry and Klinger, and it's the bit where Klinger comes in and claims that his father is dying. And then Henry goes through his file and reviews all of the other excuses Klinger has made over the past year, culminating with "Half of family pregnant, other half dying." I can't breathe when I watch that.

I also love the set-up in the episode where B.J. plans a (fake) birthday party for Hawkeye, which later morphs into an anniversary party for B.J., and then a birthday party for a soldier. My mom watched that with me once, and she was in hysterics too. Simple minds, simple pleasures :).

that's kind of like saying that if you can ponder about whether or not you exist, you DO exist.

but my philosophy professor came up with a pretty good argument against that one yesterday, so i'm starting to doubt myself.

I first saw that when I had no idea what was going on, who was who, anything, and me and my entire family were howling with laughter.

Haven't seen the party one, but I want to, now. Why is the first party fake? And why does it morph into other parties?

The entire camp is kind of depressed, so B.J. pretends it's Hawkeye's birthday so that they can plan a surprise party for him and cut back on the self-pity. Hawkeye finds out about it, though, and hates the idea, so he volunteers to go up to an aid station to avoid it -- and, before he leaves, he "lets it slip" that, hey, it's actually B.J.'s anniversary! (It isn't.) So then the party becomes a non-surprise party for B.J. Later, a truck full of soldiers going to the front breaks down nearby, and they're brought into the mess tent to warm up. One of the soldiers asks B.J. how he can thank them for the hospitality, and B.J. says, "When's your birthday?" It's not even coming up, but B.J. tells the soldier it's been "promoted," announces the glorious occasion to the rest of the tent, and they change the party again.

Also, all throughout, Klinger is getting more and more upset, because he keeps having to change the message on the cake he's baked. Hee.

and the original argument isn't mine, it is property of Descartes. but i have to say, i did agree with it. how can you ponder existence if there is no such thing?

but, i digress.
