Well, Classics was all right, but that's not what I'm here to write about. This morning Ella volunteered the information that the next school production is To Kill a Mockingbird and she's auditioning for the part of Mayella Ewell tonight. Now, I didn't seriously think before about going along for the auditions, as I can't act. But a few things did occur to me...

I know the story. Obviously I do. And I can do a southern accent. It's the only accent I can do, and I only discovered it when watching those first few Enterprise episodes with Trip Tucker... "Chef was servin' pecan pie, an' suddenly my life was good again..."
The odd part is, Becca is going to audition, as are Ella and Beverly, and none of them can nail the accent. So that's one of the reasons they want me to come. And I'm tempted, specially as today is Friday and it doesn't matter how late I get home.

So I'm tempted. And I found my copy of the book this morning just before leaving, which was lucky, though I am dreading this exam. I can't do English Lit. I really can't. Wish [livejournal.com profile] purplerainbow was here, for a variety of reasons.

And that is all, and I think I may go, and say, "It's a sin to kill a mockingbird..."

You HAVE to come. I plan to go. If not to audition then to watch and laugh at the bad attempts at southern accents. I want to audition for scout. Just for a laugh. It will be funfunfun. At least to laugh!

I wish I had been there too, if only to copy your exam paper.
What's Classics like? Am considering doing it at A Level.

And what were your reasons?

The reasons were, I thought you'd disappeared off the face of the planet, I missed you, and you can do English Lit and I can't.

Classics is a lot of fun and not much work. I know, that doesn't sound likely, but it's a good subject to do and having done three years of it and two of Latin, I'm now in a position to know.

I missed you too! I felt as though I'd done a Discworld and slipped off the edge of the world...

And English lit. is my passion, and my life. It is my oxygen, my bread, and my water. Doesn't necessarily mean that I can do the exams! But it's sweet, though.

And Classics does sound good. It's all books! Thanks for the info.
