[livejournal.com profile] snowdrop24's last post was lovely. I don't know why.

God bless the fanfic writers.

[On that topic - even though she can't see me, I'm waving at Iolanthe [livejournal.com profile] scarlatti, a new friend...]

In the meantime... I am cold. I have been reading and watching television, but all the time feeling I should be revising.
Or something.

I'd quite like to write something, but I have no ideas. The story of my life, I suppose. All dressed-up and nowhere to go...

Which reminds me. Why on earth do I bother wearing jewellery and touching up chipped nail varnish when I'm on my own all day? The only person who's going to see me is me... but I cling to my habits.

Ah, well. It's not as if my life is awful at present, so there's no need to be maudlin.

[What's the noun to go with maudlin? Maudlinity? Maudliness?]

But yes. My life is, well, it's okay. I'm safe at home, I've been home for a week... I'm still me, it's my birthday in exactly two weeks, I'm not revising but I won't fail, there is still good fanfic in the world, I still have my friends, I figured out the heating switch and the house is warming up, I've got the media player and as long as I'm alone, I can have the volume up as high as I like, and as long as I'm here I have the whole world at my fingertips.

"And I know it's out there,
But somehow here is gone."

In the meantime... I am cold

Florida is experiencing a cold snap as well and I recently discovered that the heat sink element for the air system doesn't work. There's no point in calling it in since the cold snap will end soon and we shouldn't be living here much longer anyhow.

I'd quite like to write something

I think that's every writer's dilemma! I have ideas the come into my head that the oddest moments where I cannot capture them but when I sit down to write, they dry up and blow away on the winds.

Why on earth do I bother wearing jewellery and touching up chipped nail varnish when I'm on my own all day? The only person who's going to see me is me

I think you answered your own question there. I am a housewife and I rarely leave the house most days, not even to shop (I save it for weekends and dream of having a working car again so that I can go places). Even so, I find it a tremendous boost to self esteem to wear jewelry, makeup, whatever even though no one else will see me. It puts me in the right frame of mind for productivity and it makes me happier to be well cared for.

I have to ask - what constitutes a cold snap in Florida? I've been there a couple of times, but always in the height of summer.

We're not having a cold snap, per se... it's just always like this in January, although I have to say today is exceptional. About eight degrees under, today... but bright and sunny.

I guess you're right about the jewellery thing- although perhaps I never thought of it in those terms. It's just something I do....

Well, I live in northeast Florida, which can actually see freezes and temperatures down into the 20s. Currently, it's in the high 40s/low 50s, which is cold when you don't have heat and that will be the high for the day.

[livejournal.com profile] snowdrop24's last post (http://www.livejournal.com/talkpost.bml?journal=snowdrop24&itemid=50925) was lovely. I don't know why.

Strange! :P

I'd quite like to write something, but I have no ideas. The story of my life, I suppose. All dressed-up and nowhere to go...

Me too, which is why once I get this damn coat, I'm running off to find a cafe to write in. And on another note - I love the bag you got me! It's perfect, so I don't lose my phone and purse any more, and it's easier to take a pen and notebook everywhere with me! Thankyou! *huggles*
The only thing is, I don't want to stick badges all over it now! :( of which I have about 50...

Right...I'm taking my CD player and one CD. Something Corporate? What do you think?

Yes, Something Corporate. They suit the weather, somehow.

I'm glad you like the bag! I wasn't sure you would!

*huggles back*

Come back soon...

You want to write?
I have the perfect tool...
(I also get a chance to practice my HTML...)

Ideas taken from 'The Writer's Block'
  • Describe the largest crowd you've ever been part of.

  • Describe a time when you've settled an argument between two close friends.

  • Conformity (it's supposed to be a spark word)

  • Bad hair day.

  • (And this one is interesting...)
  • Write about an incident that could be used against you if you ever ran for political office.

You don't have to do any of them, they're just ideas, and I wanted to put my new book to good use...

*huggles*
P.S It is freezing, isn't it? And yet it's so sunny...
And I'm wearing jewellry, too.

I'm wearing the bracelets you gave me...

And that last one is fantastic. Political office?
Hmm....

Thank you! I love that book!

You are all-knowing, my dear friend.
And I will use it, when I am blocked. In the mean time, it so much more fun being a fairy god-mother and unblocking everyone else!

We must have the same muse, or something... On those rare occasions when I do come up with a good idea, there's a 99 percent probability that I won't have a chance to write it down before I completely forget it. :P

Ah, these muses!
Ever get the feeling she's somewhere in Hawaii, drinking cocktails with little umbrellas in, having forgotten all about you?

'Cause if the answer's yes, we've got the same one...
