New Delhi Railway Station
Dec. 16th, 2002 09:15 amI was bored. So I'm in a net cafe, and it keeps disconnecting me. I have a disquieting feeling that this is one dialup connection shared between a dozen computers.
Anyway.... the flight was smooth, though I was moodswingy. I seem to be oddly calmed by the sensation of a keybpard beneath my fingers - anyway.
Pedar has decided that my purpose in life is to accompany him on errands he runs. Not that I mind, really - he just gave me Rs. 100 (about two pounds) to either find a net cafe or buy some Asterix comics. They asked for Rs. 30 for an hour here - I'm impressed.
India doesn't bear describing in just a few minutes. It's such a strange, familiar, ancient, modern place... there are cows in the streets, spices in the air, and there's never silence, always people talking and laughing and shouting about their wares.
I'm lonely. I spent the day revising, and feeling like I was the last person on earth - everyone else was asleep. Tomorrow Pedar is dragging me out of bed at seven (I got up at two today!) and taking me to New Delhi Railway Station to pick my aunt and cousin, Chicklu. Rohan doesn't get here till next week - and on Friday, Pedar and I are going to the airport to pick up Sunny.
Maybe I won't be as lonely then. In the meantime, I amuse myself, with my books and my CDs and slowly reading Devanagari script at the rate of one word every five minutes...
[Edit: It is not 9.15 am. It's actually 8.55pm. I don't know what the hell is wrong with this computer...]
