Star Wars: The Force Awakens

I have seen Star Wars!
Thoughts, in no particular order (perhaps to bear in mind that I am not really a fan, and have not seen Return of the Jedi despite having thought hmm I really must get around to that every so often for the last fourteen years):
-Rey. Beautiful girl of my heart. I actually wasn't enjoying the movie all that much, until she picked up the lightsaber. SHOCKINGLY I love her. The Jedi in the old movies do hit one of my beloved character tropes straight in the middle. Power! Controlled by ritual and paperwork! Which works very well! Until it doesn't! Anyway, I want to see Rey come into her power, I want to see her grow up, I want to see her learn and teach and carry great burdens that others can't see and be the quiet sort of enormously powerful that comes with backbreaking work and responsibility.
-Because that's women do, what the fuck is the fucking dark side, anyway. Leia lost her entire family and and her entire planet, and she never thought of it. The dark side is for whiny white boys apparently? Especially as it seems to consist entirely of wearing swooshy black clothes and beating up innocent furniture. I mean - what do they want, other than tailoring? We just don't know.
-Finn is lovely! What a sweetheart. And such a nice ending for him and Rey. I'm glad they're friends who might be more, I'm glad she kissed him on the forehead, I'm glad she went off for her own next adventure without waiting.
-I was at least twelve times more delighted by Harrison Ford than I expected to be. Such fun! And - wow. I am amazed I wasn't spoiled for that. Kylo Ren, get a proper fucking job, christ. "I've been waiting for this a long time" - no you haven't, you're like, twenty-three, you could've worked at Starbucks after graduation if other things you'd wanted weren't working out, NO ONE WOULD HAVE JUDGED.
-God, why are men, anyway. Finn, you're okay. But Leia and Rey hugging, and understanding, and having all the things between them unspoken and nameless - yes. (Leia in general. Back to what she does best, which is running the goddamn revolution.)
-I have run out of things to say. I liked it! And it's not really science fiction, is it. It is a big swooping fantasy. That's all right. Rey is lovely, the others are good too.
