I think
PART 1
Your Pseudonym:
Raven
How long have you known about/read/written fanfiction?
February 2000
What fandom(s) do you read/write/are you involved in?
Stargate SG-1, Enterprise and M*A*S*H
Who is/are your favorite character(s) and why?
In Stargate, Daniel Jackson - he's idealistic, charming, and so damn cute(!) *grin*
In Enterprise, Malcolm Reed, because he has the same accent as me....
And in M*A*S*H, Hawkeye, because he managed to be sharp, sarcastic, very funny, as well as being a deep thinker, which I loved.
Do you identify with certain characters? Which one(s)?
Not really. Although I can see Daniel Jackson's viewpoint, sometimes - I'm also a geek trying to make people see things my way!
What type/genre of fanfic do you read/write?
I read and write gen fic, mostly angst and vignettes (or both!) Most M*A*S*H fic (what there is of it!) is humour, so that too.
I write angst and vignettes.
Why do you read/write fanfiction? Please give details!
Because I love it. I meet people through it, and make friends, as well as the fact I get to be part of a fictional world, where things are better, if only for a little while.
Do you read official novel adaptations of TV shows? If you do, how do they compare? Please give details.
No.
I have read a few, but they're a waste of money when you consider the great fiction that is available for free on the net.
What are your favorite subgenres and why?
I do read slash, sometimes, but I stick to the angst, vignettes, missing scenes and tags because I always think the canon episodes are best, they just need something added to them.
And the angst is because of that secret desire we all have to see our beloved characters go through hell.
Is there any kind of fan fiction you wouldn't read?
I don't like NC-17 stuff, unless it's very well done (Dr Jackson's Diary by Anais is the only exception I can think of).
PART 2
Do you prefer to read fanfiction online or in zines? Online
Are you a member of a mailing list? Yes
If yes, do you participate actively on the list or do you prefer to 'lurk'? I prefer to lurk.
How actively are you involved in your fandom(s)?
Stargate, I've been heavily involved in for a long time now, but I'm spending less time in it now.
There isn't really a proper Enterprise fandom that I know of yet, and although I do love M*A*S*H, the fandom is very small.
Do you know other fans personally? Yes
Do you have friends who read/write fanfiction? If yes, how many?
Yes, about five, but they don't all know each other.
Do you talk about fanfiction with your friends and/or family?
Sometimes.
How intensely are you involved with fanfiction/the fan community? (time, effort, etc.)
I spend a lot of time with it - it's an important part of my life.
Do you attend conventions? If you do, how often?
First one in October!
PART 3/1 - READERS
Do you send feedback regularly? If not, what does motivate you to send feedback?
I send it a lot of the time.
Do you like to read AU stories?
Depends on the story.
PART 3/2 – WRITERS
How important is feedback to you?
Very important.
Would you write even if you didn't get any?
Yes.
Do you reply to every feedback/fanmail you get?
Yes.
Do you have your stories beta'd before you post them? If you do, do you think the comments/suggestions of a beta reader help you to improve your writing style?
Yes, but I don't always take my beta's advice.
In your favorite fandom, what are the major differences between canon and fanon?
The fact Jack says, "Rocks," and Daniel says "Artefacts!" This is not canon!
Aside from that, the slash in Stargate fandom is not canon in the slightest.
Have you ever worked as a beta reader?
Yes.
If you beta, how frequently do you do that?
A lot.
What is your primary motivator for accepting a beta reading assigment?
I beta regularly for certain authors.
Provide any more details below on why you choose to be a beta reader.
I like to do it - it helps me keep my own writing skills in trim! *grin*
