Storms

Oh... well. It's hard to explain what's going on, but I will try.

Firstly, I left all my windows open last night, and as I have no curtains, I was awoken at about nine am by such a wonderful sound - thunder. The thunder, the rain, the lightning, the blowing trees - is there anyone who doesn't love storms? I didn't get up properly, but I was dimly conscious of grey light in my room, fresh breezes and the smell of the sea, and this is all while I was still lying in bed. I hovered between awake and asleep for a while, just enjoying the storm, until I fell asleep properly again and slept till twelve. Getting online, I've suddenly realised I had a heads up. That's what I love about LJ. You always know what's going on!

By lunchtime, when I finally got out of bed, it had blown itself out. But it's stayed cool and overcast and pleasant ever since, and I approve. However, it seems storms are only around in the north. At Heathrow Airport, the temperature reached thirty-eight degrees, and broke the record - the first time ever it's been over 100F in Britain.

What next? Yes... I went online, and I would like to state for the record that I love fandom. I really, really do. First of all, the M*A*S*H slash archive is finally up and running! And as well as that, we're having M*A*S*H awards, run by [livejournal.com profile] tobiascharity - yes, this is a blatant plug. All the relevant information is on the list, and I am apparently the list liasion, so I'm plugging it mercilessly.

As well as that, [livejournal.com profile] gamesiplay rocks. She really does, having produced the quickest and most thorough beta I've ever come across. Colleen's birthday fic will be up tomorrow, methinks, once I've run through it properly and given it a title. I'm crap with titles, although not as crap as [livejournal.com profile] shipperkitten, I will admit. And yes - fandom is a wonderful thing.

Real life is not so wonderful. The day so far wasn't so bad - my mother wanted to go to the gym, and dragged me with her, and while I had my doubts, I went with her just to shut her up. It wasn't as awful as I'd expected, but equally it wasn't very interesting, so I won't comment. However, she did drag me there for another reason, and that was so I'd be there to moan at. Dadi and Pedar are driving her mad. I let her moan, because there isn't really anyone else for her to moan at, and to be honest I do see what she's getting at. More on that later, because when we got back, we found that Dadi's brother has died. I've only met him the once, and I only vaguely remember it, and I get the feeling even my parents didn't know him very well. It's Dadi who is affected the most. So that's not so good.

And that really is everything.

Yeah, it's a nice sound until it hits something a bit *too* close to your house! And it's nice when it doesn't wake you up at 8am...

Yeah, I am bad. But you could at least have put the > in! ;-)

Was that an official [met office] reading, that actually broke the record?

I'm glad I could help. It really was a wonderful fic, and it deserved to be given priority on my list of Fannish Things To Do. (I just hope it wasn't so quick a beta that I overlooked anything crucial.)

I was wondering about titling, too, but I'm not much good with it either. So, much luck on that.

Ack! The M*A*S*H slash archive is so pretty! I feel so adulterous because I have been neglecting that fandom so very much lately. Perhaps when I've paid tuition I'll haul myself out for Season 4 and write some more... But I have so many other fannish commitments at the moment. Le sigh.

I'm sorry! I will go and edit.

I have no idea if the record was actually broken, but it was on a BBC news-thingy, so I would say reliable.

Thank you, again. Title-wise, I may open the dictionary and make a random stab with a pencil.

*laughs* You know, I feel very similar. I haven't written anything M*A*S*H-related for a while, either!

Ack, forgot to mention. I love the icon. What's this about Jonas week?

Well, it all started a few weeks back here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/suzvoy/211075.html) when [livejournal.com profile] suzvoy and [livejournal.com profile] chiroho proclaimed ISW (International Sam Week); a week in which people write Sam-fic, make Sam-vids, talk about Sam-episodes and so on. When that ended, they had a vote (http://www.livejournal.com/users/suzvoy/219353.html) and the winner (http://www.livejournal.com/users/suzvoy/233370.html) was Jonas. So now it's IJW and because -- of course -- we all love Jonas everyone's got icons supporting the cause!

Er, yes, we're strange... ;-)
(I sure hope there's no squiffy html in that!)

Eek, everyone's so chatty on Suz'z journal... she's only had it since January and already:

Thanks for editing it! :-)

And the record was officially broken; bookies lost a lot of money today (25 to 1 odds)!
