Titles

Revision, how do we loathe thee. The one high point of the day was a brief conversation with Patrick, in which he informed me he got a polite email from Sean (the school's network administrator), in which he informed him that any email sent to a school email account with an attached picture is automatically diverted to the adminstrator. The picture, you may remember, featured Patrick in a dress.

Hmmm.

In other news, I am doing the title meme, because it's fun. You just take five four of your fics and get to be narcisstic about their titles.

Coming Into Being

Well, I couldn't call it the clichefic forever. The title was just one of those things; it's from a section of the Book of the Dead that Daniel quotes during the course of the fic, and it seemed appropriate. I had SG-1 become children because I thought it would be fun, and part of the fun was to work in all the little quirks and foibles and character traits that will, with the benefit of experience, result in the adult characters we know. How they came into being, in fact. Or something.

A Sequence of Ghosts

For some reason, I find Harry Potter fic especially difficult to bestow with titles. This fic never had a proper title during the six months I was writing it, and it was only when actually posting it that I realised that one might be necessary. It sounds like it ought to be a quote from something, but as far as I know I came up with it myself. Because the fic, mostly from Remus's POV, is a series of vignettes set over a long period of time, it's something like a Christmas Carol with all the events of his past coming back to haunt him.

Chemistry

The infamous building-the-still fic. I generally give fics titles that are as short as possible, and this was the title I had in mind when writing, as a reference to the chemistry of making alcohol. But the double meaning permeated, with the romantic chemistry adrift in the 4077th making more and more of itself, so in the end the title was even more apt.

Sleeping With Ghosts

Contrary to popular belief, this is not a fic named after a Placebo album. Admittedly, the song of the same name made me consider the phrase, but it does fit in well with the main idea of the story. There are four main pairings in it, and of each pair, one is dead - Daniel, Sirius, Aziraphale and Baruch - and the other is "sleeping with ghosts" (ie, Jack, Remus, Crowley and Balthamos). Some of them are happier about it than others. This is actually the weirdest fic I have ever written; a faintly mysterious title is the least of its worries.
