To start with the general geekiness, I've loving this whole RPG thing. It appears that Remus Lupin is channelling my Inner Bitch. I had no idea he could be so... well, snarky. He's not horrible, but he's sarcastic and swishy and says the most outrageous things in such a bland tone of voice that people do double-takes. At the moment, James and Sirius are having a big fuck-off fight, and he's going to mediate. He's quite good at it.

That's fun.

Today has actually been fun in general. Pedar and I went to work/school together, and as we were going down the bypass, there was a delicate whoosh! sound and a happy friendly early-morning puncture. Thankfully, Pedar is not the type of person to get stressed about this kind of thing. If I'd been with my mother, there would have been hysterics all round, but Pedar reached out, called the AA and sat back. He and I always discuss the state of the world on a Wednesday morning, and this merely acted as a way to extend the discussion.

The AA were wonderful people. They texted to say they would be there by eight twenty-five precisely, and they were. I got into school in time for the library committee meeting. Which was fun but didn't involving anyone actually doing anything, and following that I had a free because Miss Hathaway has gone on a course. I didn't do any work. I sat on one of the library computers and read a lot of Stargate fiction. It was fun. Mrs Barry was around, and for some reason, talking about Mr Evans in drag. There's a nice visual.

Talking of him, I ran into him later and couldn't resist the opportunity. "Do you know you're quoted in the magazine as talking about your feminine side?"

Unfortunately, he was eating a biscuit at the time and we all endured several minutes of him choking/gesticulating wildly/meandering round the corridor before he said, "I don't have a feminine side, I am not David Beckham!"

Well, I thought it was amusing. Amusing enough to keep me amused as I meandered to Biology, the only lesson I actually had to go to today. Once there, Rice-Oxley seemed to be in a good mood. Actually, she's seemed to be in a good mood quite a lot lately. I have a feeling she's... gasp... mellowing. How will we cope, indeed. Mrs Colvin (inverterate gossip) says she likes us. Maybe, maybe not. Actually, talking of her brings me to Chemistry and the fact I have to do something rather ridiculous in the name of [livejournal.com profile] cucharita.

What, you ask? I have to steal litmus paper from the lab. Enid, darling, there is no litmus paper in the labs. Litmus solution, yes, but I'm not stealing a bloody bottle of it. Wil universal indicator paper do? I should be able to get that. And once I have, you have to come up on a Wednesday and see me.

Today, Becca and I went down to the village again for lunch, which I really enjoyed for no particular reason. We went to Gregg's, and I got a strange-but-nice pizza thing and a chocolate doughnut. We retired to the common room, ate, flicked through some magazines and bitched a bit. It's simple things that make me happy.

Like going home early, for instance. Like an idiot I missed the train by a couple of minutes, but I was home by one thirty and spent the afternoon reading fic, watching silly fanvids and... wait for it... working.

Seriously. At about three o'clock, I sat down and worked. Not the necessary stuff, either. It wasn't vital I do it. But I sat there and blitzed the chlorination of methane and the bromination of alkenes across a double bond. I now know what electrophilic addition is, how it happens, what the stages in the process are and the science behind the reaction mechanism. I get it, I understand it, and maybe I should work more often.

It makes me feel comfortable now, at any rate. I watched Stargate earlier without a trace of guilt - The Tomb, early season 5 - and also discovered that Wormhole X-treme! is on next week. I'll have to watch it. There are three consecutive episodes that are very good - Wormhole, Proving Ground and 48 Hours. In rather geeky fashion, I'm looking forward to that.

While I was watching it, it snowed. It really did. The garden was a world of white.

For about half an hour. It's melted now. C'est la vie.

My parents have gone out tonight. I'm in a good mood. Let's hope it stays that way.
