raven: [hello my name is] and a silhouette image of a raven (artsy avatars [fritters])
Over the weekend, the heating broke. This means I am absolutely freezing cold, and have been for what feels like forever. When I got into school, I made a beeline for the radiator and refused to move. When I told all this to Becca, she became equally vocal. Apparently the same thing has happened in her house too, with the added bonus of the radiators exploding. The common room radiators are thus far intact, but obscured by all the people sitting on them. I must have spent almost the entire morning perched on one. Its being Monday, I had a double free before lunch and spent almost two hours chatting to Emma and Becca whilst doing my Chemistry. It was surprisingly enjoyable - the chatting, that is, not the Chemistry - and we discussed cabbages and kings and what Becca wants to do on her eighteenth. She wants to hire "a place" and invite family and friends and everyone, which I am all for, but I do wonder why she's planning now when her eighteenth birthday is in October.

Going to lessons was annoying, particularly as I always fall asleep in them on a Monday. Rice-Oxley didn't help, and neither did today's topic - meiosis. It's hardly confidence-inducing when I can't do it. Neither was the Chemistry, later on. Thermal cracking, and I don't understand anything about it. To add insult to inadequacy, I have a test on standard enthalpies later this week, which I am going to fail because I don't understand them either. Add the usual gall at people who bloody well do nothing - no, no, not a case of potkettleitis. I take such pleasure in doing nothing because most of the time I am doing something - I'm doing four A-levels, two of them science, and I do voluntary service and spend lots of time in the library and in what time I have left, I'm a slash writer and I write, beta and keep a blog. I do do things. Today I met someone, naming no names, who does two A-levels and sleeps in the common room the rest of the time, and complains that she has so much work, and I was annoyed.

Pedar and I were supposed to go round the village putting up flyers this afternoon, but first my train was late and then his clinic ran late. I'm a little pissed off. Not with anything or anyone in particular, but a lot of things have just been not going right, and it's still freezing, freezing cold in here.

Next week is half term. I suddenly have more plans than I can cope with. A couple of days ago, I arranged to go to town with Becca and [livejournal.com profile] purplerainbow on Monday. It was a fairly loose plan, but I do want to go very much. Now, [livejournal.com profile] shipperkitten is having a thing on Monday night. I also want to go to that very much, and the usual solution would have been for me, Becca and Hannah to have all gone together. Unfortunately, it's not as simple as that - Em's thing is a Stargate Monday. Quite reasonably, Hannah has said she doesn't want to come and was quite possibly muttering something about a ten-foot pole at the time. Becca would probably agree. But I want to go. Which means I have to run round all over the place, which I'm not so much opposed to, but I really don't want to offend Hannah.

Hmph. I may ring Patrick later. He's coming home at half term as well, further complicating the issue. Valentine's Day is Saturday. Ugh. I hate Valentine's, and having a boyfriend does not change that. It's still an exercise in commercialism. Grrr.
