raven: [hello my name is] and a silhouette image of a raven (doom [rouk])
I'm trying to write a "personal statement" for my Medlink forms.

The question is, "Why do you want to read medicine?"

I have written:

I want to read medicine because...
Why do I want to read medicine?
Why?
I want to be a doctor primarily because
I hate this.

Yeah... the Medlink thing is going so well.

Well, I've actually had a good day. I had a good day yesterday as well; I was just too much in awe of my own stupidity to be coherent and write about it. It was fun; I never knew [livejournal.com profile] osiris13 and [livejournal.com profile] cucharita were coming with us, but they didn't know Hannah and I were going to be around either. So it was all a little unexpected, but it was fun. We didn't invite [livejournal.com profile] shipperkitten because we were all buying Christmas presents for her - inspiration did strike, but I think someone, probably Clare, has to ring Alice and find out certain things.

I did take some pictures yesterday, but wasn't able to post them because my phone refused to send pictures. It's fixed itself today, so here they are. The first two were both taken at Subway by Central station. Enid took some pictures with her digital camera but hasn't posted them yet; I'm pleased, as she refused to delete the one of me looking completely gormless. There's another one of me trying to escape so I'm blurry and half out of shot, but I prefer it.

I suppose if a picture tells a thousand words, this entry had the potential to be one of my uberlong entries, but sparing your friends pages, it's not. I couldn't write much about yesterday anyway, because it involved so much Christmas present shopping. I bought my Doc Martens, of course; burgundy and lovely and made me think of [livejournal.com profile] ka_crow, and was informed by the nice woman who owns Woodstock that the company are stopping making the coloured versions. They're going back to all black, which meant I had to buy the burgundy ones yesterday or not at all. Which reminds me, I owe Clare money. Anyway, we were just leaving Woodstock when suddenly Clare, Hannah and Enid all stopped and faced me in a semicircle. Not a good sign, in my experience; I could feel my smile becoming somewhat fixed.

It turns out they had all planned to join together and buy me the Doc Martens for Christmas. I went extremely gooey at this. Their plans wouldn't have worked because the red ones weren't in my size and they had no way of knowing that I would like the burgundy ones. But even so, I was very very flattered by the thought they actually pay attention to what I say. I love them all, in conclusion.

Today, then. I just went into Liverpool to replace the stuff I lost yesterday (please, no-one specifiy what the stuff is; this entry is not friends filtered). Thankfully, Quiggins was open (for Christmas! Enid, I love you) and so was Whittard's. They gift-wrap stuff. Wonderful. When in Quiggins, I saw all kinds of stuff I wanted in Grin, but we didn't stay long there; Hannah and I went through to the antique-y bit at the back, which is where I took this picture. It was supposed to be a picture of the Save Quiggins. Save our culture. sign, but it went slightly wrong. I kept it anyway because I think I might iconise it.

Hannah and I didn't really plan to meet up today; she was in town with her family and escaped her brothers' shopping to come and meet me. We had a pleasant time doing nothing; after my stuff had been re-bought, we went to Miss Selfridge for the novelty factor and we also went to Waterstone's. I wanted to go there because I'd spend all my money except for one penny, and I wanted a charity to give it to. In Waterstone's, I gave a penny to one of the dyslexia charities and realised that for probably the only time in my life, I'd given all my money to charity.

While we were walking down to the station, we saw men in costumes on stilts. I was feeling snap-happy, so I took another picture. There were drums following them and people jumping out of their way. It was all surreal, but fun.

Now, I have to finish off my Medlink forms, find clothes to take with me, and wrap my Christmas presents! I love wrapping presents. Love it.

Despite everything, I'm in a good mood.
