raven: [hello my name is] and a silhouette image of a raven (wombling free)
I am changing my mind about Christmas. [livejournal.com profile] eniddy made me a card! She actually made it, and drew it, and coloured it in, and stuck stickers on it, and in it she wrote she wanted me to be a part of her Christmas and gave me a (non-touching) hug!
So I feel loved. And special. And much better about the whole festive season thing. I will give cards, and receive them with happiness and good grace. And [livejournal.com profile] eniddy also thinks she will give me a sandwich for Christmas, because it will make me happy.
It will. I am hungry, and I want a footlong pizza sandwich with extra cheese.

So yes. I am bored. Still feel loved, though, 'cause I got another surprise... a book to borrow from [livejournal.com profile] lilka. Tis called Alanna, it is by Tamora Pierce, and I'm sure [livejournal.com profile] purplerainbow will approve. Many thanks to both of them, as I trust their taste.

This song is almost... mystical. It's certainly one of the most unusual songs I've ever heard. It has the familiar lyrics, and yet...

Normally I would write about my day, wouldn't I? But there is nothing to say, except how bored and cold I am. So very cold. When did that happen?

My mother and I just had a long, involved conversation about sickle-cell anaemia. What wonderful lives we do lead between us, to be sure. Neither of us are anaemic, though I have been in the past, and neither of us have malaria, though we both have in the past, so there goes that. It's all oddness. I now know more about this one bloody disease than I do about any other in the pharmacology.

She went shopping this afternoon, my mother did. Came home with a lot - a lot! - of stuff. She claims everything she bought was for £1. Odd as it may seem, I believe her. She's a terrible Scrooge, normally - almost as bad as me. Anyway, I now own a few more clothes than I did yesterday - the best one is a black, cotton top with one of those necklines with the tie-up-thingits, and it has very flared sleeves. It looks a hell of a lot like something of [livejournal.com profile] snowdrop24's, now I come to think of it.

Anyway. All this shopping made me think of my own Christmas present list, which I was making this morning.
In India, I will make a few lists and give them to Mashi and my mother, who can then go shopping for me:

So, people:
Hannah - [livejournal.com profile] purplerainbow
Clare - [livejournal.com profile] osiris13
Emily - [livejournal.com profile] snowdrop24
Enid - [livejournal.com profile] eniddy
Becca - [livejournal.com profile] chanandlerbong
Megan - [livejournal.com profile] megegan
and maybe, possibly, Bev. I hadn't decided about her yet.
Oh, yes - Yusra. I keep forgetting her, and I want to buy her a present. Might get little things for Helena and Emma ([livejournal.com profile] _vertigo), too.

Shouldn't be particularly painful. They are all getting prettiness, in the shape of scarves and dupattas and swathes of shining material and jewellery and bangles and all the stuff every good little Indian girl has. I'm not being sarcastic - everything is truly beautiful.

I may even get some payal for myself. I adore them, but I've outgrown them. Nevermind, for a couple of weeks, I can be five years old and barefoot again.
