raven: [hello my name is] and a silhouette image of a raven (shaking)
So... I couldn't sleep last night. I fell asleep for about two hours, and then woke up again. So, I got up, padded carefully downstairs, being as quiet as possible.
Turns out I needn't have bothered being quiet. Guess who else couldn't sleep?
So, I went back up to bed with the ice-cream tub. I didn't actually fall asleep until half four, and I had to get up three hours after. So I am literally asleep on my feet.
I am, however, oddly at ease with the idea of being in school. So far I can live with it.
I should be doing my history at the moment, but I can't be bothered and listening to Punk Rock Princess seems a more and more agreeable proposition.
Becca has apparently seen what seen what she wants to get me for Christmas. It's a nice feeling of being close to Christmas, if only for the general feeling of goodwill. It sounds like such a good idea, Christmas.
I'm hungry. Will go to lunch in a minute.

Firewall

raven: [hello my name is] and a silhouette image of a raven (grey nirvana)
I went to the computer room during the afternoon for absolutely no reason.
I had to print off my history, which I had not finished. I needed to conclude it. So, I wrote "In conclusion..." and waited for [livejournal.com profile] lilka to say something. My next brainwave was "America withdrew into isolation because..."
Having typed this, I reflected: "... because it seemed like a good idea at the time?"
General consensus - no. Write something else. By then [livejournal.com profile] eniddy and [livejournal.com profile] kittysplitter had made their ever-so-graceful entrances. In the morning I told Enid she really must read Dr Jackson's Diary - I wasn't all that surprised to see we could get onto it with the school computers. After all, these are the people whose ingenious firewall blocks us from any Yahoo! site, whowouldyoukill.com and several people's inboxes, but the firewall didn't pick up on a site devoted to NC-17 slash, complete with lube.
In the end, [livejournal.com profile] lilka came up with a wonderful ending to my essay - "...because it was the best way to avoid further military and economic problems" - and I printed it off. I wish I hadn't had to leave; it was shaping up to be fun(!), but go I must.
And I went, to find my essay doesn't have to be in until Thursday!
