Oh yay!!! I hope you'll check out the first book; while all three are written to stand independently, they do connect and somewhat overlap - and the true political events serve as the foundation of each romance, from what I've seen so far. (The author's house was burgled while she was developing the trilogy and she lost the gigantic "plot map" stored on her stolen laptop. I feel like I need to pay her at least twice the price of the books for working superhard to finish the manuscripts in time.)
If you don't have time to read the novel, I'd warmly recommend the short story The Ruin of Gabriel Ashleigh which starts out this verse and introduces two of the secondary characters (and also happens to be the hottest story about a card game EVER, imho). Also, the author is great at twitter and would probably love this review, if you'd care to link her to it. :)
