raven: [hello my name is] and a silhouette image of a raven (sleep...)
I can't sleep.

My bed is full of sand.

So... my mother woke me up this morning by the simple method of ringing me up three times and hanging up each time. She says she didn't do it on purpose. I don't believe her. But my insomnia last night means I've only had about five hours' sleep and am therefore even less of a morning person that ususal.

Later on, I'm going to Becca's for our next drama rehearsal - yeah, we're so good at this - and she seems to be very excited about it. I realised suddenly that I haven't seen her for nearly a fortnight. My mother's pissed off at the plan; she wants to know if I'm trying to fail my GCSEs. Yes, I am. That's why I'm doing this.

Anyway. Much as I have enjoyed the morning - listening to the Counting Crows (August and Everything After! This Desert Life!), downloading Peppetuum Mobile on [livejournal.com profile] snowdrop24's recommendation, and lurking on the two lists (mash-slash and CrowleysAngels) - I will have to leave soon. Got to be there for twelve, which means I have to leave here in about fifteen minutes, which probably means I should get off the computer now, but what the hell.

Talking of those two mailing lists, it seems I'm right when I say that each one has its own cultural nuances. The etiquette for each one is different, which is probably why I have such a phobia of joining them generally. And then I lurk. I do lurk. It's a basic concept in nature. I lurk.

And that would appear to be that. If this song takes any longer downloading (surely an hour is too long on 576kbps?) I may be forced to kill somebody.

[Edit: And if you haven't seen Google today, go and look. Pretty.]

Devil ears

Just got back. The weather is so unpredictable that the Attack of the Day Trippers seems to be slackening off slightly.

Becca has not changed in the weeks since I last saw her, which is good to know. She still doesn't feel like "being dramatic" and to be honest, neither did I. If there's anything our drama rehearsals lack apart from props, costumes and a coherent script, it's motivation. In the end I asked Yusra to put on a CD ("I don't listen to any of this stuff!") which turned out to be the Cruel Intentions soundtrack, and I was lying on Becca's bed watching them do what we call the "fight scene" whilst also warbling away to Placebo. This set-up soon dissolved into laughter and accusations of being ridiculous, all from me.

I changed the track to Colorblind and then the Bittersweet Symphony, which was interesting as Yusra's monologue progressed. Little did she know that while she was delivering it (to the wall) Becca was putting on a pair of devil's ears and a matching barbed tail. Her expression when faced with her fellow actrice should have been cast into plaster, it was that good.

After that they just practised slapping each other, whilst I tried on the demon-ears and tail. They're sparkly red and glitzy and I want them. Becca said she got them from Claire's - "they were cheap 'cause it's not Hallowe'en." I forgot to take them off when we had lunch and gave Karen a giggle. Yusra randomly started melting cheese on Doritos, which was nice but odd. Following that, for some reason we ended up watching the tail-end of Pride and Prejudice, and then I departed.

On the train home, I met a dog that looked like Max. Frighteningly so, in fact. I don't think I want another dog - not now - but this one startled me, he looked so much like him. But that's neither here or there.

I don't feel up to dealing with my mother tonight.
