Nine years ago tonight
gavagai and I went for dinner at Freud's in Oxford, and she got me a present, and I can't remember what it was but I think it was probably a book. (Was it Persepolis? Quite possibly.) I was nineteen. I'd been an undergraduate for three months. I lived in an attic with a porthole overlooking the Ashmolean. I felt terribly grown-up.
Tonight
gavagai and I went for dinner at the Pizza Express near St Paul's. She got me a present (it was a very cute Oyster card holder, with text: "The world is your...."). I stayed late at work to write up some notes on solar energy taxation and when I came down the lights were sparkling in the frost. I hope I never grow up.

(And, if you keep having this wondering approach towards life, you probably won't grow up! :))
