aaaaaaaaargh

When you open your front door in the morning, step outside and land with a thump in thigh-deep snow, one would hope the day can only get better.

edit morning classes are at least cancelled. And my adorable professor just got a little more adorable; on Friday he was delivering a lecture about prospectivity: "And we see the judicial restraint on the subject" - cue fire alarm - "...and I'll see you all on Monday." Long pause, while we all look at him blankly, and he said patiently, "We'll do ten more minutes on prospectivity at the beginning of next class, and then we'll move onto retroactivity, and now we'll flee the building."

This morning he's merely said: then fire now ice, with apologies to Robert Frost; enjoy the day.

I am going to go and file my taxes, get some coffee and growl.

Agreed. Went out with the dog this morning, and the snow was so deep she couldn't even walk in it. Even if the university opens for evening classes, I am making an executive decision and not going. Because mountaineering/sled dog abilities are not part of my dog's job description.

Winter... It can leave any time now.

There are four steps up to my front door! I have no idea where they even are!

Gleep! And now they're probably covered in skitey bits beneath all the snow, too.

Much appreciated, honey. Keep breathing. You're going to be fine.

I hope you have warm drinks and a snuggly blanket for your growling.
*hugs*

THERE IS NO JUSTICE IN THE WORLD!!!!!! NO JUSTICE!!!!!!!

[identity profile] loneraven.livejournal.com 2011-03-07 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
THERE IS NOT. I am actually considering going outside into the thigh-deep snow to get some. This is a bad plan but oh COFFEE.

Man it's like Sophie's choice. So unfair

Try hot chocolate & caffeine pills. Tastes better, & you still get a caffeine kick.

[identity profile] loneraven.livejournal.com 2011-03-07 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the fact I have drunk several cups of coffee every day with few exceptions for the last fourteen years indicates I disagree wtth you.

[identity profile] greek-jester.livejournal.com 2011-03-07 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll take your word for it. I've never been able to get past the 'tastes like mud' reaction.

I think I'll stick to a nice cuppa for my hot drink fix.

Don't get buried in it!

[identity profile] loneraven.livejournal.com 2011-03-07 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm trying! Only half-comedically grateful I can swim...

I am really fed up with winter... though we don't have anywhere near that much snow, so I really should not be complaining.

Eee adorable prof!

[identity profile] loneraven.livejournal.com 2011-03-08 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Me too, so much! Fed up.

(He is so adorable!)

1) Your professor is awesome.
2) Have you considered those waist high fishing waders?

[identity profile] loneraven.livejournal.com 2011-03-08 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
1. I get an urge to draw sparkly hearts;
2. It is not quite THAT bad. Yes. :) I actually have very good snowboots - fur-lined waterproof leather - but today was the first day even they failed me.

LACK OF DEATH please, I am not visiting a CORPSE.

DEATH AND TAXES. this is not the best day.

[identity profile] greek-jester.livejournal.com 2011-03-07 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds like you did well with your assigned professor. Sounds like fun!

Hope you don't get snowed in too long. Getting caught up with studying Isn't Fun. Personally, I'm glad the snow's behind us in my part of the UK *knocks on wood* although it looks like we're getting a little frost tonight.

[identity profile] loneraven.livejournal.com 2011-03-08 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Heh, by UK standards we've been snowed in for five months. There's one blessing. :)

I have a terrific crush on your adorable professor.

Do not get lost in the snow!

[identity profile] loneraven.livejournal.com 2011-03-08 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
ME TOO it is very embarrassing. :) I shall try!

Adorable professor is adorable!

And I have to say that is one thing I love about living in the high dry desert of Colorado. It snowed all day yesterday; today's sun has pretty much melted everything out.

[identity profile] loneraven.livejournal.com 2011-03-09 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
You know, that sounds idyllic. *sigh*
