There's a very particular kind of Sunday-night-appropriate British mystery show that they like to import to the United States to show on Mystery!, and Grantchester is the most perfect realization of that genre I've ever seen. This show has everything: World War II flashbacks! Handsome priests! Barely-stated but unbearably strong romantic tension! Solving crimes! A puppy! And sermons at the end of most episodes that address the major themes of the story!
PBS doesn't always stick to type like this (I watched the first half of The Escape Artist on Mystery and I'm still a little scarred) but frankly I like it best when they do.
