I've now re-read this three times, and it's still enviably gorgeous. I do not have enough coherency to say everything I want to, but the bit where Smith opens the watch is completely lovely and a bit heartbreaking and just about everything I wished we'd seen on screen. (And also, wee-Doctor and his birds? Gosh.)
