I'm not going to make any further points about Sam, or Gene, or Sam/Gene, until I've watched some more of the show. I suspect that if the fandom doesn't lend itself to slash-- and from what you're saying, the obvious choice might not be so obvious-- I'll do a bit of meta and wander away. I have one mostly-meta fandom as it is!
